POPI Act Terms

Effective date: 1 January 2025

1. Introduction

SolarKwotes ("SolarKwotes", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). This notice explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use our website and lead generation services.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information when you submit a quote request:

  • Full name and contact details (email address, telephone number)
  • Property type and geographic location (province)
  • Electricity usage information and billing documents
  • Any additional notes you choose to provide

3. Purpose of Collection

Your personal information is collected solely for the purpose of facilitating the provision of solar installation quotes by our vetted partner network. We will not use your information for any other purpose without your explicit consent.

4. Sharing of Information

Your information will be shared with a maximum of three (3) solar installation companies in our partner network who are relevant to your property type and location. All partners are bound by confidentiality obligations and are prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than preparing and delivering a solar installation quote to you.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your personal information is stored on secure servers. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access, loss, or destruction of your data. Information is retained for a period of 24 months from the date of collection, after which it is securely deleted unless you have entered into an ongoing commercial relationship.

6. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Object to the processing of your personal information
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa
